The University of Iowa Business Services Department is seeking a qualified Accountant that will be responsible for daily and monthly accounting functions for multiple service departments. Responsible for preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, documenting cash handling procedures, preparing original and correcting journal entries and preparing billing files for submission to general ledger. Review financial transactions for accuracy and appropriate classification.
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the and .
Duties to Include:
- Match AP vouchers to invoice and packing slips with departmental system and reconcile with GL (TDR)
- Reconcile inventory, A/R and holding accounts monthly
- Initiate basic and/or routine original and correcting journal entries
- Ensure department is in compliance with GAAP and University policies and procedures
Location: WCTC
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Salary: $41,541 to commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications:
- BBA in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Related accounting experience, typically 6 months to 1 year.
- Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) accounting standards
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Access
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
- Knowledge of automated systems
- Able to work with large data sets
- Knowledge of inventory control
