Business Analyst – P-Card and Travel Program Administration

The University of Iowa, Accounts Payable team is seeking a Business Analyst. The Business Analyst position will help complete the activities and operational functions of the University’s Procurement Card program . This role will be responsible for providing admin and functional support for the ProTrav travel and card reconciliation and payment system. This position is the primary customer service contact for the procurement card program and will be required to provide exemplary customer service as well as daily data entry tasks required for the management of the program. In addition to completing the daily support activities of the card program, the Business Analyst will lead process improvement projects and coordinate with st akeholders for business improvement planning and requirements gathering. This position will be involved in identifying potential improvements within systems like ProTrav and also help with testing upgrades and training users. This position may also manage special projects, bank payments, assist in fiscal year end processes and other duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the and .

Duties to Include:

  • Review and maintain regular financial reports of procurement card and travel related expenses to verify adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Participate in functional design, testing and training of ProTrav system enhancements as needed.
  • Provide prompt, effective and exemplary customer service.
  • Assist in expanding the card program through the use of new card solutions.

Location: Plaza Centre One (PCO)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Salary: $45,540 to commensurate

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience (typically 1 year) in accounting/procurement card process/system monitoring and/or data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical/statistical skills
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications/demonstrated competence with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Access, Excel and Word. A work sample may be given to interviewees either before or at the time of interview to assess Excel skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Beyond 1 year of experience in accounting/procurement card process/system monitoring and/or data analysis.
  • Knowledge of automated systems, both custom-built and commercially available.
  • Experience with identifying and managing fraud/fraud prevention.
  • Experience with leading process improvement projects and process re-engineering.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain.
  • Familiarity with the ePro, ProTrav, and APPO systems.
