Human Resources Manager
Trees Forever
The Human Resource Manager will develop, maintain, and enhance Tree’s Forever human resources by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Trees Forever's mission of planting and caring for trees, empowering communities, and promoting environmental stewardship.
- Cultivate a workplace culture that promotes inclusion, collaboration, and morale.
- Establish communication channels to address employee and volunteer concerns, including discrimination and harassment policies.
- Promote positive employee relations through clear communication and interpretation of HR policies.
- Create and implement staff recognition programs, celebrating achievements and fostering a culture of appreciation.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including scheduling interviews, conducting prerecruitment screenings, and negotiating salaries.
- Develop and refine job descriptions to attract top talent aligned with Trees Forever’s mission.
- Oversee new employee onboarding through orientations, training sessions, and the distribution of informative materials.
- Conduct exit interviews to gain insights into employee experiences and retention strategies, providing leadership with actionable feedback.
- Develop and implement companywide HR policies, including the employee handbook and procedural updates.
- Maintain employee files and manage administrative HR tasks, including leave requests, workers’ compensation claims, unemployment insurance claims, employment verifications, and COBRA administration.
- Design and deliver HR training programs for leadership, focusing on compliance, performance management, and best practices.
- Analyze employment trends to track workforce patterns and collect metrics for organizational evaluation. • Design and implement performance assessment processes, ensuring individual goal-setting aligns with organizational objectives.
- Develop and oversee training plans, either by conducting internal training or coordinating external development programs.
- Evaluate and refine pay structures, leading annual compensation decisions to ensure fairness and competitiveness.
- Conduct benefits assessments, analyzing survey results and recommend enhancements to employee benefit programs.
- Lead biennial culture surveys, interpreting findings and driving organizational improvements based on employee feedback.
- Coach managers on employee relations, progressive discipline, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate responses to management.
- Develop succession planning strategies, ensuring leadership continuity and career growth opportunities within the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on nonprofit HR operations.
- Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance, and organizational development.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make decisions involving direction and implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in mission-driven organizations or nonprofits is highly preferred.
