Classroom Accessibility Assistant (Seasonal)

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

This position plays a key role in ensuring equal access to the educational opportunities for a student by providing accommodation support within the classroom environment. This position will be responsible for providing direction for safety and support to a student with a disability.

This position is a direct student support position which is based on student class schedule. Hours for this position are Monday, Wednesday and Friday's from 8:00 - 11:00 AM and 1:00 - 4:45 PM. Student's schedule will change in October.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform tasks related to a student’s approved accommodations.
  • Assist with safety compliance within the educational setting.
  • Collaborate and communicate with faculty and Accommodation Services on a regular basis.
  • Assist with physical mechanics and/or dexterity requirements including but not limited to: basic operation of machinery, lifts, tools, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an classroom and lab setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate of Arts Degree in Automotive Technology (or similar) and/or at least two year’s work experience within the field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • One year of experience in education or a related field
  • Knowledgeable in the area of automotive technology
