GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst will assist with college-wide budgeting, resource allocation, and financial analysis. The position assists with a portfolio of Federal, State of Iowa, and private grants along with State of Iowa Tax Credit programs. Under general supervision, the Financial Analyst performs a variety of financial and accounting duties to support accurate reporting, compliance, and effective decision-making. This position assists in monitoring financial processes and ensuring information is timely and accurate.

The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budget variance, and other financial reports.
  • Support efforts to improve financial procedures and use of resources; help implement established processes
  • Assist in   documenting policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Provide professional communications with internal and external customers.
  • Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; and may include making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable college, state, and federal policies and regulations, while maintaining appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Support the annual budget process, including participating in training sessions with budget officers.
  • Provide assistance for the external audit of the college and related entities.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.
  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Experience with PC’s and related software.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Prior experience with Datatel Colleague system.
  • Prior experience with OEPI funds.
  • Prior experience with Colleague.
